Our Story

A women-led brand rooted in Tanzanian heritage

Mbuji South Coffee Limited is a women-led Tanzanian agribusiness committed to sourcing, processing, and exporting premium Arabica and Robusta coffee. Alongside coffee, the company also trades in high-quality cashew nuts, vanilla beans, and spices.

Headquartered in Dar es Salaam and sourcing from the fertile highlands of Mbinga, Kagera, and Kilimanjaro, Mbuji South Coffee bridges the gap between smallholder farmers—especially women—and global specialty markets. Every partnership is built on ethical sourcing, full traceability, and a shared commitment to purpose-driven trade.

Founder Elizabeth Francis Chishomi drew inspiration from her roots in Tukuyu, Mbeya, where her grandparents were early coffee growers. Her journey into coffee began in 2016 at Mbinga Coffee, where she learned the full coffee processing cycle.

Motivated to make a greater impact, she began sourcing and selling parchment coffee and later co-founded Mbuji South Coffee Limited to build a platform that champions farmer empowerment, ethical sourcing, and quality export.

The company’s name and spirit are drawn from Mbuji Rock, a sacred landmark in Ruvuma among the Wamatengo people, symbolising strength, heritage, and resilience—values that shape the Mbuji South brand.
